Looks like the award that has eluded South African musicians like Mafikizolo, Teargas, AKA, and Donald will get away from us once again. We all had high hopes for our SA nominees for 2016 AKA, Black Coffe & Cassper, even against Diamond Platz and Wizkid who have massive support around the world. Alot of us put in the votes hoping we could take it home but sadly even if we combine all the votes of our SA nominees together we couldn't beat Diamond Platz who has 60% of the votes.
Voting percentages are as follows:
Diamond Platnumz leads with 60% of the votes,
then Cassper Nyovest with 17%,
Wizkid has 9%,
Aka has 6%,
Serge Beynaud 4%,
Black Coffee 2%,
Yemi Alade 1%,
Mz Vee 1%
AKA has mentioned how much cheaper data is in Tanzania, Diamond Platnumz hometown. That could be the reason he has such a huge margin on his competition, or that he has much more loyal support. Either way, his star keeps rising. We can hope for Emtee to win us our very first BET award now as he's nominated for the Viewer's Choice award. Let's get voting!!!
Update: Emtee will win the BET the way things are going, he currently has 51% of the vote and his only real competitior Falz has got 38% of the votes. The award ceremony happens tomorrow night in Los Angeles and history will be made for South Africa it seems.
You might ask yourself how I came across with this information; well if you're a website designer/developer you'd know there are some tricks into to looking at a web page's coding and javascript via the "Inspect Element " function. Through that you can clearly see the percentages of the votes.
