AKA has over 500 000 twitter followers,; he would require under 10% of us to buy his album for him to reach Gold. I've purchased my copy, what's stopping the rest from not to buy his album.
1. AKA is his own worst enemy and his "enemy's" PR
Some peple are not buying the album because they dislike AKA... Not because his music isn't good. Loyal Cassper fans, which are probably the biggest hip hop fan base we've ever seen, will not buy Levels because he made enemies with Cassper. Even now that they made up the fans are still comparing them thanks to AKA picking a battle which he didn't win.AKA also indirectly converted some of his fans into Cassper fans cause he makes good music. He keeps digging holes for himself accusing Cassper of not reaching Gold when he had back then and now attacking Ifani for being creative and doing what he could not.
2. He had set low expectations for himself
A week or so before Levels dropped AKA tweeted that he had printed 5000 copies for the stores to sell. This I'm sure from the experience he had with his 1st album which did not sell much. Even though he knew how good his album was, he had a low sales expectation before his album dropped, not realising that his spat with Cassper was going to positively influence hip hop sales in general.
Going after Ifani will not do him any favours either, his latest Twitter rant will most probably cost him sales from loyal Ifani fans who were planning to buy his latest release of his 1st album the Unlocked edition. As long as he keeps making the same mistakes, he'll get the same results.
He should be striving to be the "1st" English rapper to reach Gold and not complaing why he hasn't on Twitter. It's hard to be an AKA fan man, keep us proud please and stop all the bull.
