Lil Wayne is proving once again that he is "The greatest rapper alive", showing that even without his syrup he can still put together a HELL of a decent verse. Lil Wayne went o jail last year for gun possession during a tour in New York a few years back. Before he even got to jail he began going cold turkey on his syrup and recorded a video of his friends dissing him on how he wouldn't make it without it. But he proved them wrong. I wasn't really worried about his health, just the health of his rhymes. The way I saw it Lil Wayne's rhymes ARE SICK and he needed to treat them with some paracetamol hehehe.
Lil Wayne recorded his first syrup free lyrics in prison on a remix he did on Drake's Light Up track featuring Jay-Z. Over the phone Lil Wayne laced a hot verse that would have earned him his freedom if he recited it for the warden. And now officially out of the slammer he still proves his 1st week platinum earning status with award winning, street hard rhymes on a Rick Ross Mixtape song, "Welcome To My Hood" feat. Rick Ross/DJ Khaled/T-Pain and Plieas (the only guy not worth mentioning). With lyrics like "They say time flies... Well mine's first calss" and "Shit happens and since I'm the shit, I'm who it happen to"; it's obvious Lil Wayne never lost anything behind those prison bars.
Next on the list is The Carter 4 then an album with Drizzy Drake... Looks like a good year for music already.
