The perfect way to describe what Kanye did with this album would be that he put in alot of extra time in making it. It's not the usual go in the booth, spit a verse and the song's done kind of album. POWER took 5000 man hours to create, every song has nearly 2 different elements to it that add real significance. Guitar solos, violin renditions, Elton John pianos, as with his initial album title he did a "good ass job".
The album's coming out 23rd of November, same day as Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday album. It's a definite classic and should do about 600 - 700 thousand in its 1st week. Kanye was sampling different material on this album, a more classic rock genre and made sure his songs fit to the theme. Gorgeous, the 2nd track on the album featuring Raekwon and Kid Cuddi, has a very distinct guitar playing as the main instrument. On this song he talks about the struggles of the black man and how he is dealing with it. Possibly the best flow and rhymes are on this song. "Hell of a Life" also has a very heavy guitar as the main instrument and a brilliant piano riff by Elton John on the chorus which gives the song a dark, twisted appeal as the album title suggests.
"POWER" as the 1st single of the album shocked me as it was unexpected. Without the context of the album it was very different to Kanye's usual music. Much like the unexpected 808's and heartbreaks that came out of the blue. Kanye continues on his autotune and vocoder diet though on most songs, singing on some of them. Kanye’s impulsive nature in both his life and music forces his fans to expect the unpredictable.
“My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” is not only landmark in Kanye's career, but could ber the best album released this year. The only drawback I see with this album is that it only had 13 tracks, I'm sure everyone wanted more.
