The cellphone industry has upped its tempo since the 90's, when Nokia ran the game like Usain Bolt. Back then Nokia, Motorola and Ericsson were the big dogs and green screen wasn't just used for Sci-Fi movies. Today iPhones, Sony Ericssons, Nokias and Blackberrys are the popular kids and Motorola seems to be rolling onto the history channel.
The last Motorola phone I recall being aggressively marketed was the RAZR V3 back in 2007. Slick thin and edgy, it had everyone talking. Since then people have slowly been replacing their mobiles with iPhones, Nokias and Blackberrys. HTC's have made more waves than the Moto machine. Motorola does have new phones though, the Droid the Cliq, smartphones made to compete with the iPhone/Blackberry take-over. Their products haven't been as impressive as their competitors, adding to the string of disappointments the company has produced during the last few years. According to the NASDAQ exchange Motorola's market share has certainly declined, at a quicker rate than expected. There were also rumours of Motorola owning Blackberry? EHHH that's completely false.
Motorola's new Droid phone looks impressive, something new to show your friends who have all fallen into the black hole of Blackberry. A great tool to look different and get more attention.
