For someone called Sugar Smacks you know one would expect him to be one of those artists who whisper a whole lot sweet nothings to the ladies through his music. But NO, not Sugar Smacks. Anyways this guy is a member of the SKWATTA KAMP who really has it in his head that he's a good MC. He actually thinks he can rap. I support local music, so being the nice guy that i am, i went and bought his album. Got home, put the disc in the CD player and started skipping. Track one, two, three, four. Haai, next thing i know I've skipped past the whole album without even hearing anything worth while, i mean the only descent track there was his single. imisebenzi yakho, this is only a hit because bricks is on it. damn sad....
I just wanna know who are the gatekeepers of this industry, who gets to decide who gets in and who doesn't? I think this is the root of the problem, if we sort this out , then surely this would mean that we have rectified the problem.
Yes it doesn't take a Scientist to come up with such a solution (not that I'm undermining my own intelligence but ya...)
Anyways getting back to business, it all started on a day like any other when me, a very young boy at that time came back from school and switched on the telly...
I remember it was 18:30 And BOOM there it was, Dynamite Diepkloof Dudes, that must have been the worst local content to have ever hit our beloved SABC 1, well after JIKA MAJIKA that is. Sugar Smacks. I mean who concluded that this guy has talent, honestly I'm starting to think that his acting was/is better that his rapping. We've heard the likes of DMX, MOP and whole a lot others rapping by making a whole lot of noise behind the mic, but, the difference between them and SUGAR SMACKS is they made it sound good.
I ask my self "What good can come out of a grown man calling himself Sugar Smacks" I mean like really how creative can one get with aka's
