Ever go to your favourite restaurant and ordered your favourite meal only to stand in line and wait till you lose your appetite? Well that's exactly how I feel about Maggz. Many say he should be in the top 10 list of South Africa's most talented hip hop artists. He is no stranger to our earlobes, radio and TV stations as he has been rapping since...
I remember when Prokid dropped his 1st album, we all thought Maggz was soon to follow. Then Prokid dropped his second album and still we asked "Maggz, when is yours coming?" he replied by dropping a mix tape entitled "sorry for the long wait" produced by OMEN. His debut album never dropped till he teamed with FASSIE RECORDS recently and finally it happened. The album is titled "The Break out" was out and it consisted of 19 tracks with the single "we in the building" produced by Bongani Fassie.
Unfortunately the album was not very successful... What went wrong? What more is a artist to do when he's got the talent, look, marketing, personality and the support of his record label but is simply just not selling?
Maggz what went wrong? That's the question at hand, first asked myself then the masses through a little survey. We then came to the conclusion that Maggz will never sell in RSA because he lacks 3qualities. Timing, relevance and diversity. We gave his album a good listen, what really stands out is the limitless talent and genius in production skills by Bongz. We all know it is considered wise to build up anticipation and hype before dropping, trick is never to leave your audience waiting for too long because they will lose interest. Moral of the story, "strike while the iron is still hot because the flame of fame burns out quick and you lose relevance.
