There's many different answers when you ask people who the biggest stars are in South Africa. But one thing that is not subjective are numbers. Since they hold back info of how rich they are, let's compare the most popular people on radio and TV to see who stands above the rest.
This is based on people that I currently see in the public eye:
1st- Rap Category: Proverb vs Pro-kid vs Teargas vs HHP
HHP is the obvious winner but not by far, he has 7161 twiiter followers and 8555 people on his facebook page, that's combined powerhouse of over 15000 people. I expected more though given the "size" of this guy. Pun intended.
Teargas follows with 4786 tweeters and 5905 facebookers on its roster. Total of 10691, given Teargases fast paced rise to stardom it could actually mean they are now bigger than Proverb in terms of success. Other factors aside.
Proverb follows as Prokid doesn't seem to be on twitter which affects his numbers. Proverb has 4281 followers and 4070 group members on facebook. Combined he's on 8351. Prokid could've beaten this as there is a correlation between success, fame and the following on twitter and Facebook. He has 6513 facebookers in his group. D.A Les is still a boy it seems with 2817 followers and 4000 group members.
DJ's Category: Black Coffee vs DJ Fresh vs Euphonik vs Garreth Cliff
This is a big group with big guns. House is huge in S.A so it makes sense that these are truly the big dogs of the industry. Black Coffee comes in with a fresh 77023 people on his facebook group. Can't find his twitter but impressive number none the less. Much more than the hip hoppers combined. DJ Sbu, whom I thought was the king, has 35401 facebookers and 9176 tweeters. A small boy on this list.
Compared to Fresh with 56547 FB's and 33465 followers. Fresh going electro was the best decision I swear. Euphonik takes the "big dog" on in terms of FB groups with 57545 members but loses to his idol on twitter with only 13168 followers. Garreth is the king though with 101547 fb members and 50 622 tweeters. POWER HOUSE of over 150000 people, DAMN. I put him amongst the "black" people because he is love/criticised by all. I would ad Jeremy but I don't want to fall asleep thinking of Highveld.

Socialites category: Bonag vs Khanyi vs Nonhle
Khanyi should be leading this group but her management could care less about her in my opinion. She has 7778 members on her fb group and only 5289 followers. This is also affected by the fact that you must request to follower her. Management please change this. Bonang has 58091 fb members and 5584 tweeters. As the fastest growing young star she is doing pretty well for herself. She's the Queen of this group. And Nonhle toddles along with 13363 group members and 9483 tweeters to beat Khanyi as 1st princess. Good going
Comedians category: David Kau vs Loyiso Gola vs Trevor Noah
The last in the group but they carry the king off for all. Can you guess who? Loyiso might be the black president in his comedies but he aint win this group. He has1308 on his fb and 6762 followers. David Kau is the past in terms of being the bigest comedian, coming with 11813 fber's and 10935 followers. But the CEO of CELL C outshines them all. Noit just the comedians but this whole damn group. He has 169672 fb members and 29554 tweeters on his list. Falling just short of 200000 people he must definitely be the biggest current star in S.A. If you disagree ask CELL C.
